One thing I love most about summer are the open terrace! All you need is a couple of your girlfriends, a sundress, an open rooftop and great food. Located in Grant Park, Tin Lizzy’s Cantina is that perfect place. I used to always peep it next to Republic House, so I thought why not give it a try? Oh man, was I glad we did!
There’s nothing like some good tacos on a hot day! I ordered 2 tacos. They consisted of Veggie Mexican rice and Veggie Black Beans. *Side note, what I like about this place is that it tells you what is Vegetarian friendly. Beware, a lot of Mexican Restaurant uses chicken stock in their rice and pork in refried beans. Nicely ask your server to double check for you and if a Vegetarian friendly option is offered. Continuing… Grilled peppers and Onions with slices of Avocado.
I loved every single bites of it! The rice was seasoned to perfection and the grilled peppers and onions steaming hot and juicy! The perfect meal for a hot day. The tacos weren’t too heavy or filling, but just enough for me.
I can genuinely say that Tin Lizzy’s has the best tacos in Grant Park.
But wait, there’s more!!!!!! They serve TATOR TOTS!!
Yes ladies and gents. It’s a dream come true. A bucket of Tator Tots. I almost fainted when my server mentioned them to me, or maybe it was the heat. No! It was the Tots! Look at those golden beauties, ready to be digested!
Tin Lizzy’s Cantina offers 4 different locations over Atlanta; Buckhead, Midtown, Grant Park and Perimeter.
Need a taco or two? Craving a bucket of tots? Wait no more, Tin Lizzy’s got you covered!
Everyone knows Holly has to have her TOTS!

Soul food. Soulful. Soul fool. Soul rich. Soul Vegetarian.
The minute I stepped in the restaurant it felt like home. The warmth and aroma of the restaurant was very welcoming. From baked goods, collard greens, mashed potatoes to massive kale bone steak, soul food is not what’s missing in this menu!
Bring on the mac and cheese, steamed broccoli, and a country fried steak smothered with gravy!!!
Now, that’s what I call SOUL FOOD. Everything about it was delicious. The Kale bone steak, wow! I need that recipe. I couldn’t put my fork down. I wish I could explain you the taste of this amazing, crunchy, rich in flavour steak, but I can’t. It is something you have to experience yourself. I know, I am sounding a little bit over dramatic here but trust me, I mean it. *Wink, wink! The mac and cheese was very creamy and strong in spices. The gravy was good, but a little too salty for my personal taste. I was really surprised to see how large of a portion they offered. The meal was served with a house salad. Fresh romaine lettuce, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts and house dressing. The salad dressing is light and has a sweet and tangy taste to it, which I thought was different and great.
The staff were both attentive and friendly and the food was tasteful.
I will say that I did enjoy my first visit to Soul Vegetarian and I won’t make it my last. I now know where to go for a soul worthy meal. 100% Vegan and Soul rich , I am sold!

What had started off as a rough morning managed to end itself as a beautiful story…and it goes as follows …
Today i had the chance to try a new Vegan restaurant in town, ChuChai. A Vegetarian & Vegan Asian Bistro and Fine Cuisine. It is located on St-Denis down on Mont-Royal. The weather today was windy and a little chilly, but didn’t stop my cousin and I from venturing our way out. Isn’t she the best? She’s so open minded into try new places with me. Maybe one day she’ll switch over to my side of the plate (insertwinkhere).
So after taking a stroll downtown, we decided it was time to E A T. When i first arrived in Montreal, i made a list of many Vegan places on my “To Try” list, and ChuChai was one of them. My cousin called me last week and told me about a place a friend recommended us to try and surprisingly, ChuChai was on my list!
As soon i walked in i knew this place was bound to be good. We started off with 2 appetizers for Entrée, Fried Dumplings x Spring Rolls then ordered our main course, I had the Vegan Pad Thai with Fried Tofu and she had the Vegetarian Chicken [Soy] over Green Beans with a side of Brown Rice.
The Deep Fried Dumplings were delicious. They had a nice crunchy shell and tasty filling. I honestly can’t say what was in it, i was too busy savouring it’s beauty. Perhaps next time? Next we had the Spring Rolls. Now next to my french fries addiction, it is safe to say that spring rolls comes in next!
Crispy outside and well seasoned juicy filling. I believe it was Shredded Carrots, Shredded Green Cabbage and Vermicelli. Yums!
So after a few laughter and conversations our main plate arrived, boy was i excited. Oh and just to add, her plate was amazing, but gave me a mild allergic reaction, yes it’s true. I had a bite and knew somehow felt Ginger was involved. After a few bites in, my throat started to close up, and made it hard to swallow. Bummer isn’t it? Luckily i had my fancy dandy boyfriend with me [inhaler] 2 puffs in and a tall glass of water, i was back to normal, Yippie !!
They called it the “GAI PLIK KHING” on their menu, fancy eh?
Now this was best Pad Thai I’ve ever had. I am not exaggerating. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the sauce was perfect, now the Tofu was amazing [Certified Organic]. It had the right amount of flavour in, and fried to perfection, crispy outside and moist inside. The Ground Peanuts and Bean Sprouts complimented the dish perfectly! Overall i was pleased, and i am definitely going back for M O A R !
The atmosphere there is really cozy and welcoming. The staff was really friendly. Oh, did i mention it is a “Bring Your Own Wine” establishment? Sadly i didn’t know this, but if I’d known you know, my bottle would have been in my purse ready to be poured. I most certainly bringing a nice red wine on my next visit. Before i forget dessert was served, but i was already full from the appetizer and plate, that i myself decided to skip that part of the menu, but my cousin definitely had her share ! She went with the Tapioca over Coconut Milk, if i remember well. I do have a picture of it, but it’s doesn’t give it any justice. I can guarantee you it was good, all i heard was ” Omg, Humm, this is so good” until the last spoon !
So my dear readers, ChuChai was a success! I heard the the Vegetarian Duck is a killer there, now i’ve never had duck before, so i wouldn’t know what it tastes like anyways, but i think i’m going to skip on that one hehe. I will go for a beef & chicks’ next !
If you are on St-Denis and haven’t made a stop at ChuChai yet, don’t hesitate. You will be pleased!
And she walked out happily after ….
